This site has been created as a means of sharing information
between owners of turbocharged Corolla's and those considering
embarking on a turbo Corolla project.
Toyota Australia have only ever released one factory turbocharged
Corolla onto the local market, this being the 2001 model Sportivo
Corolla. These were released in very limited numbers and at a
price a little beyond the average enthusiast's budget. The other
option for those wanting a factory turbocharged corolla is the
Corolla II turbo - released in the mid-80's, a small number of
these have made it into the local grey-import market.
For those wanting serious power from their Corolla, however,
there is another option. Custom turbo conversions, usually based
on an engine from Toyota's renowned 4A-G series, are showing power
gains of 3 or 4 times the standard engine's output, sometimes
more! Other engines used in recent conversions include Toyota's
3S-GTE, Mazda's 12A/13B and Nissan's CA18-DET and SR20-DET. There
are still only a handful of such cars in most countries, but the
number is steadily growing.
